Absurd Hero

Camus on Sisyphus:

His scorn for the gods, his hatred of death, and his passion for life won him that unspeakable penalty in which his whole being is exerted toward accomplishing nothing.

For Camus this makes Sisyphus "the absurd hero." Might seem also to make him the atheist hero. Would that mean they are the same thing?

Passion for life is an accomplishment of the hightest order. What else is there to accomplish? What lasts? What matters? Why ask why?

Belief is the enemie of experience and experience is all there is to accomplish. The scorn of superstition, the hatred of death, the passion for life are the is of is. There is nothing to accomplish but to live and love. Earning your way to heaven is no accomplishment at all. Gods be damned. It is the believers that fool themselves with goals and purpose and desire. What is accomplished watching the fountains of the sun? Only life in a wash of emotion. Then sleep. Then start a new life tomorrow.
