Crossing (for Beryl)

Beryl Sokoloff (1918-2006) passed on September 11th at the age of 88. Some of you will remember his beautiful paintings and films from the IT IN space show 4 Now and Then.

    The photo at the end of this post is an alteration of one of Beryl’s photos. I think the photo was the inspiration for the film that led to the drawing that ended up fitting the original photo in an almost weird way (It’s a pure fluke…I looked at the photo once at 2:OOa.m. and then woke up and worked all day without looking at it again)… and speaking of flukes, I couldn’t get the full size photo to work, so I pulled off a tiny thumbnail from an art show where you can see the original. And what is that show called: Artflux,of course.

    Thanks for the good filmic tribute, Beryl would have liked it…or maybe is liking it (he actualy did a series of pavment photos, with similar graphic blacks and whites).
