It’s Cherry Blossom time again here in Brooklyn. Went to Sakur Matsuri with Ben and Rebecca (Sylvie’s allergies always flare up during this holiday, sadly). Had some sake and sun and relaxation…. and they should be in full pink confetti snowfall for my cinqo de mayo birthday. Rebecca was quiet and tired and lovely and possibly channeling some Japanese femininity as Ben and I drank and blathered on about how interesting it was to have a holiday based on Nature’s timing of bloom and how it is similar to Mardi Gras and Fasnacht and then we went through all the seasons and all the cultures and thought about holidays and talked about Sophie and our hopes for the new authoring program. It was a good sunday and the blossoms are great with crowds, but nice alone too, so I hope to stop back with the rabbi on tuesday when it’s free: MONO NO AWARE! SO DES YO! AIKO TAIKO ANA NAY!
